Zoom in on glowing warriors

To mark Chinese New Year a display of lantern warriors, modelled on the terracotta warriors, is in Edinburgh
zoom-6
As with the terracotta warriors, the heads are made separately from the bodies and all are different.  But on the lanterns the heads are solid on top of lantern bodies – which I found a bit odd in the dark.  I will go back to see them in daylight to see how they look then, without the lit up effect.
and yes I have seen the terracotta warriors in Xian, China (10 years ago on a lovely tour)

looking forward to seeing what everyone else has zoomed on this week – thank you to all participants.

Those lit up warriors certainly do look interesting, but the darkened heads kind of give it a creepy effect.

Amazing photos!
I saw some of the Terracotta Army when there was an exhibition at the British Museum a few years ago. The Boy Child was still in the pram and he slept through the whole thing!

How interesting. I like the lanterns but I agree the heads in the dark look a bit odd as they aren't glowing like the bodies. Wow those Terra Cotta warriors are fascinating.

Oh, how I would love to see the terra cotta warriors in person! Until then, though, I'm really enjoying your photograph. Love the lantern version, too. Great ZIZO shots!

These DO look a bit odd Helena with the dark heads!

Love your photo of the real thing! I can't even imagine the amount of work that went into creating that army!

Good friends of ours are going to China this year and we talked with them about what we'd want to see. The terracotta warriors would be one of two things on my bucket list (The Great Wall being the other.) The lanterns are so colorful. I hope you'll post a photo of them if you see them in the daylight.

Those solid heads are very off ... but what an interesting thing to photograph. I'm struggling with ZIZO this week ... must get my act together!

I love Edinburgh! So much always going on. I love the colors. When I traveled to China, we sadly didn't make it to see the terra cotta warriors.

Seeing the warriors is definitely on my bucket list!

I love the paper ones. I wanted to get out to get a picture of the dragon here - there is always a big one in the window of the Chinese supermarket, but sadly I missed it

What a fabulous ZIZO Helena and a wonderful thing to see even if they do look a bit strange with unlit heads.
It will be interesting to see them in the day.

Lovely and I agree the headless effect of the dark heads is a little creepy.
